The sound of Brussels: a sneak peek into Music City Hall

The most promising local bands and homegrown composers in one venue, for one day. It’s Music City Hall, already at its third edition, aims to showcase the best musical talent the capital has to offer. A must go for music lovers in the heart of the capital. Discover them for yourself, while also getting a glimpse into Philippe Close’s office.

Seven bands of different genres are ready to rock the City Hall on Sunday. Usually it’s the Gothic hallmark’s majestic vaults and flying buttresses that dominate the Grand Place, but this weekend it’ll be the rolling drums, deep beats and psychedelic synths that take center stage. Each band will play 3 sets in 7 different halls, including the Mayor's Cabinet. All concerts are held by the big names of Brussels’ indie music scene.

A-list performers

Self-taught electronic artist Monolithe Noir is set to open the dances in the lavish setting of the Council Room. Then you can get captured by the lingering synths of instrumentalists Bààn or taste the retro-futurist flavour of hip-hop duo Peritelle in the Gothic Chamber.

Not feeling the groove yet? Hop into the Mayor’s Office for a unique blend of electro and jazz by multi-instrumental producer Pierre Slinckx and Quatuor MP4. In the mood for mystical sounds with a psychedelic twist of jazz, then veterans Yôkaï are right up your alley. Finally, pianist and composer Igor Gehenot, who together with bass player Cedric Raymond and drummer Jérôme Klein forms the Igor Gehenot Trio, will mesmerize the Wedding Room.

Go with the flow

Big crowds are expected. And City Hall isn’t really meant for huge crowds of music lovers. So make sure you arrive early if you’d like a piece of the acoustic cake. Doors open at noon and tickets are then distributed for each concert.

Every performance will last about 20 minutes, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy multiple concerts in different rooms. You can see up to 4 concerts. To make sure you don’t get dry-throated afterwards the courtyard ’ll be open for drinks.
