The landscapes of photographer Dieter De Lathauwer are shrouded in shades of deep grey and black. Shadowy images conceal a dark secret.
Photographer Dieter De Lathauwer in Botanique
De Lathauwer photographed psychiatric institutions in Austria and Germany where patients were murdered on a massive scale during the Nazi era. The title of his exhibition at the Botanique, “I Loved My Wife”, was borrowed from a Nazi propaganda film in which a man proudly declares that he has sacrificed his wife to the Nation.
This moving exhibition of photos, an installation, and found footage is running parallel with the Carl De Keyzer show.
