'Mothering Sunday': a hard-hitting costume drama

In an England still heavily traumatised by the horror of the First World War, the maid of an aristocratic family is given a day off. She spends most of it naked with the neighbours' son. Their happiness is short-lived. The young man is engaged to someone else and the maid's apathetic masters are looking forward to that marriage.

With Colin Firth, Odessa Young, Josh O'Connor and Olivia Colman, Eva Husson secured a dream cast for her costume drama that hits hard. The French director of Bang Gang is looking for a come-back after the lukewarm reception of her war drama Les filles du soleil.
