Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes by playwright Tony Kushner is one of the big international theatre classics of the past thirty years.
This Pulitzer Prize-winning play has been performed and adapted for the screen numerous times, but it was the staging at the National Theatre in London in 1992 that really launched the play.
Twenty-five years later, the National Theatre is returning to this piece, a more than seven-hour epic about the political, economic, social, and moral corruptions of the USA as it suffered through the AIDS crisis and Reagan’s presidency.
The film recording of one of the performances is being screened in cinemas worldwide.
