From one of the first high-end multi-brand stores in Brussels in 1976 to a 1,500 m2 luxury department store in 2013: Francis Ferent recently reopened its doors on Louizalaan/avenue Louise after two years of intensive renovation and expansion. Until mid-March, fans of Francis Ferent had to still their shopping craving in the small, temporary shop tucked away behind a tearoom on the first part of Louizalaan/avenue Louise, the selected brand store in the Louise Gallery, or the web shop. But the waiting is over and the new shop located at number 60 is simply stunning. Designed by Brussels-based architect Johan Dierickx in a minimal but functional style and decorated with furniture by the Italian label Moroso. The large surface allowed for a couple of exclusive “shops in shops”, such as candles by Baobab, cosmetics by Senteurs d’Ailleurs, sunglasses by Opticien Jean-Claude Minet, fur creations by Yves Salomon, and men’s sports wear by Porsche Design Sport. A couple of new names were added as well, including bags by the Belgian label Silis and women’s wear by the Austrian designer Helmut Lang. And there’s a lot more to come for next season. The new Francis Ferent ticks the right boxes for fashion lovers, whether they’re after a Givenchy’s envelope clutch, a pair of running shoes by Stella (McCartney), Adidas, or Paul Smith attire for men. There’s a lot to choose from, for (nearly) every budget. Ray-Ban or Prada sunglasses, mouse flats by Marc by Marc Jacobs, or Jimmy Choo heels, a .G T-shirt or one by Pierre Balmain. On the first floor, you’ll even find a whole section of designer clothes for children (fair enough, they don’t need a Burberry outfit, but on a kid-sized scale, it’s incredibly cute). And if it all gets too much, there’s a bar as well, serving coffee and champagne.
