No fewer than 37 designers are given a platform for their products at H.Y.P. The founders, Hanh, Yseult, and Pierre, who are all very creative themselves, found each other by coincidence. With a nod to the neologism "hypster", the H.Y.P Store was born. "We pick up young designers at various design fairs. We aim to give them that extra leg-up that they need to launch their careers," Yseult says.

Rings folded from old silver cutlery, bags and wallets made from old plastic banners that only yesterday still dominated Brussels's streets, an ottoman made of a discarded suitcase, or the Brussels metro network printed on your grandmother's crockery. Upcycling continues to inspire designers in our throw-away society.

Even Pierre's lamps are refurbished treasures that he snaps up on the Vossenplein/place du Jeu de Balle. From glass preserve jars to plastic dinosaurs, they are all given a new lease on life. Yseult is a photographer who uses satin dresses as the surface for her pictures. So you can walk around in a real artwork. Hanh has created a completely handmade fashion line and jewellery collection.

Other highlights include the T-shirts with prints like "don't grow up, it's a trap", leather bags, and titillating lingerie that have only feathers to provide some cover. What all H.Y.P's products have in common is that they are produced with great attention to quality and that they are made in Europe. "Anything but made in China," the Asian Hanh laughs.

On September 15 you are invited to the official opening and in the near future they will organise aperitif evenings during which you can meet the designers. "We want our customers to be able to walk out with a unique piece and feeling good because they are supporting local talent," Pierre concludes.
