Quatuor

The old tram depot in Ukkel/Uccle is now home to Quatuor, a new, huge design shop. There are about 65 brands available, of mainly Scandinavian, Belgian, French, and Italian origin. The shop focuses on all things furniture, lounge rooms, gardens, and decoration.

The Quatuor story started in 2004 and was the idea of four university graduates. Hence the name. About ten years ago, they started their online shop, but saw that their customers were interested in a real shop too. Quatuor gradually took over the chain of furniture shops Porte d’Orient and turned these shops into Quatuor boutiques. The first one was near Liège, the second one in Marche-en-Famenne, and now you have one in Ukkel/Uccle as well – and Quatuor plans to open more branches, also in Flanders. 
The shop in Ukkel/Uccle is just stunning. On the parking area outside, you can still see some old tram rails. The old depot itself is huge: a space of about 1200 m², with furniture and decoration spread over two floors. Among the brands, you’ll find a very large selection from Hay, Normann Copenhagen, Kartell, and Santou. It’s good to see some Belgian labels too, such as the garden and outdoor furniture by Tribù and Ethnicraft. The showroom looks very inviting, with an eye for detail and great combinations between styles and brands. The loft at the back is even better: part of the space is decorated like a real apartment. Interior designer Els Van Roey got to furbish the space, and we’re pretty sure most of us could happily live there.

A visit to Quatuor guarantees plenty of inspiration for every part of the house and garden. We especially loved the clever storage and toys for the kids’ rooms, the clean-cut home accessories by Hay and the bright garden chairs by Fermob.
