Saké

Don’t be misled by the name. This new clothes shop has nothing to do with rice wine. Saké is an acronym of the initials of Anabelle and Eva, who together founded their own clothing brand, and their partners Samuel and Kevin, who helped to renovate the boutique. You can find said boutique on Verversstraat/rue des Teinturiers, just off the Kolenmarkt/rue du Marché au Charbon. It has just opened, and is bursting with ambition. Anabelle and Eva – two young French women – met each other at work. They immediately got on well, and discovered that their fashion tastes were on exactly the same wavelength. Anabelle studied at La Cambre for three years and wanted to launch her own brand, while Eva studied event management. The former designed the collections; the latter made sure everything ran like clockwork. Teamwork at its best. The style of the collection is a mix of what both ladies like, with both a street wear and a feminine touch. They were inspired by big cities like Amsterdam and London. Tops with colourful prints and cool hats with the Saké logo, oversized wool coats, and beautiful blouses. Everything was designed in Brussels, and is made by various suppliers both inside and outside Europe. The clothes are made to limited order, which means that new items come in regularly (every month!), so you’re not likely to see two Saké fans in the same outfit. What about the price, we can hear you thinking. Well, it is very reasonable. Sweaters cost around 60 euro, tops start at 39 euro, and the coats are all priced at around 150 euro. In addition to their own creations, Anabelle and Eva also sell jewellery and sunglasses by other labels. Over time, they would like to offer complete outfits, including cosmetics and shoes. They informed us that they have already found a few great brands that are not available in Belgium yet. We’re pleased to hear it!
