With more than a thousand Facebook likes before the shop even opened, Siblingsfactory must have been the most anticipated shop of the season. Their opening night on 5 September saw loads of curious visitors, and they all seemed to agree: it was well worth waiting for. Owners Aymeric Watine and Marie de Moussac – both from France – came to Brussels and picked a spacious shop on Oude Graanmarkt/rue du Vieux Marché aux Grains for their concept store. Spread over two floors, you’ll find vintage furniture, fashion for men and women, a coffee corner with arty magazines, and much more. But before you start browsing the racks, have a look at the interior first. Belgian-Danish architect Julien De Smedt (founder of JDS Architects) worked his magic here, with, amongst other eye-catchers, a walking bridge connecting both sides of the top floor, sided by dozens of large cacti.

Back to fashion. Siblingsfactory stocks Le Mont St Michel. The French brand celebrated its 100th anniversary this year and is loved for its luxurious knitwear for men and women. Ready-to-wear label Cacharel is plotting a comeback and will be sold at the shop as well. More French fashion names include the men’s collections by Monsieur Lacenaire and Commune de Paris. There are trousers for women by Reiko and statement jewellery by the Parisian Yvonne Léon. You might find something for your interior too. From clean-cut vintage cabinets to scented candles by Quintessence and magazines such as The Gentlewoman or Apartamento. Siblingsfactory also plans temporary exhibitions, in association with art events such as Art Brussels. And besides being a fashionable concept store, Siblingsfactory calls itself a charity shop as well. Every year, they plan to donate a part of their revenue to Afghanistan Demain, an organisation helping poor children in Kabul.
