You can quit the head-banging, dear reader. “Heavy Metal”, the new exhibition at Dauwens & Beernaert Gallery, has nothing to do with eardrum-ripping guitars or wacked-out drum sets.
Heavy Metal at Dauwens & Beernaert: Bang! Bang!
Rather, it brings together a selection of artists who use metal in their work – whether it is bronze, copper plates, metal leaf, or metallic paint – and who all like balancing on the edge between the sacred and the profane.
Beside more than twenty pieces by Stanislas Lahaut, Adam Vackar, Quinten Ingelaere, Marco De Sanctis, Karl Philips, and Benjamin Sabatier, you can also see artefacts by designer Jules Wabbes, salvaged from the Generale Bank headquarters.
