There is a lot going on in the Dansaert Quarter. New places seem to pop up almost every week. Vetro is one of these hip new addresses that opened at the end of September.

With a mum who ran her own children’s clothes shop in the area, Jeanne Halet has entrepreneurial DNA. The former graphic designer proudly stands at the counter of her own new shop. She cherished the idea of having her own shop for years, but finding the right location was difficult, until a small, old shop with attractive and artistic display windows and wooden details became available. Transformed into a white space, the colourful kitchen equipment gives it a homely cosiness.

Cast iron pots from Austria, handmade Italian carpets, mushroom-shaped ceramic containers from Portugal, colourful heat mats shaped like puzzles, Turkish design notebooks with wacky lines, and you will finally love washing up thanks to tea towels with beautiful and playful prints.

“I didn’t jump on the Scandinavian trend bandwagon. These are objects that you won’t need to throw out when interior design fashions change. I would want every piece in my own home; you will fall in love with every single item,” the owner tells us. Many of the objects are reminiscent of the old days. This is a place for home-birds who love colour and a touch of beauty. Every two months, you can see work by new creative talents in the display windows at the side of the shop.
