In the hugely popular Millennium trilogy by the late Swedish crime writer Stieg Larsson, Lisbeth Salander is a fascinating, contemporary, and complex heroine. Alas, in The Girl in the Spider’s Web, Salander is completely unrecognizable.
That is not the fault of Claire Foy (The Crown), but of idiots in Hollywood who have turned her into a kind of super heroine. The plot looks as though it was lifted from a James Bond imitation. Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead) ignores the embarrassing script and focuses on the action. A terrible film.
