Film student Amin has returned from Paris to spend the summer in Sète, where his family runs a restaurant, his cousin Tony breaks all the girls’ hearts, and his drunk uncle tries to get young girls to sit on his knee.
The shy Amin is crazy about Ophélie, but she is about to get married and is having an affair with Tony. It hardly matters. What is important is that the sun is shining, the sea beckons, and young bodies surrender to their passions.
Abdellatif Kechiche (La vie d’Adèle) has captured this tumultuous life in a stunning hymn. Our only suggestion is that he should take the criticisms of his male gaze seriously before he becomes too closely identified with that drunk uncle.
