- US, dir.: André Øvredal, act.: Zoe Margaret Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush
While looking around a haunted house, Stella and her friends find a book belonging to a demonized girl.
The scary stories it contains confront them with their worst fears, after which they disappear. The actors are a bit disappointing, but the style is pure velvet, the sets aren’t terrible, and the monsters are works of art – you will recognize the influence of producer-screenwriter Guillermo del Toro. Not the new Shape of Water, but a decent film for people nostalgic about the first time a scary story kept them up at night.
