Starting out with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra and then working with Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers: there are definitely worse ways to master the art of jazz. A little later, Terence Blanchard’s trumpet blasts were heard by filmmaker Spike Lee, who promptly asked him to play on the soundtracks of Do the Right Thing and Mo’ Better Blues.
E-Time with Terence Blanchard
Since then, Blanchard has provided the score of every one of Spike Lee’s films, from Jungle Fever to BlacKkKlansman.
The jazzy, funky R&B sound of the latter film has also burrowed itself into the DNA of the The E-Collective, the band with which Blanchard is coming to Brussels this week.
