In this report, we join Ailbhe Finn and some other Irish for their 'Repeal the 8th' protest in the centre of Brussels. The 8th refers to an article in the Irish constitution that equates the life of a women to that of an embryo. Their colourful gathering was part of a global movement to lobby the Irish government to allow for access to safe and legal abortions. In Belgium, abortion was legalised in 1990. The topic of abortion is a sensitive one in Ireland but a recent Irish Times poll said that 3 in 4 respondents would support a repeal of the Eighth Amendment.
