Pareidolia is the phenomenon whereby one discerns a familiar form in a landscape or within abstract forms. There are a lot of abstract figures in Maya Hayuk’s new exhibition, but they will not remain so for everyone.

A regular of the gallery – this is her fifth solo at Alice Gallery –, the Brooklyn-based artist will be showing her recent works, large-format pieces in which shapes and colours composed of gestural brushstrokes make up vibrant mosaics which overlap and interweave with the walls themselves.
