The Brussels-based Joachim Lafosse (Elève libre, À perdre la raison) has given his audiences intense experiences before, but his new film falls short.
To finally reconcile with her recalcitrant son (Kacey Mottet Klein), a Russian-speaking Frenchwoman (Virginie Efira) travels across Kyrgyzstan on horseback. The landscape is as overwhelming as the relationship between the two is frosty. But their adventure brings them closer together. Unfortunately, we never really get inside the characters’ minds.
