”Runaway” by Del Shannon is 57 years old this year, but we find its bouncy little organ still just as enchanting as ever. That is also the reason why we can’t get enough of Shannon & the Clams.

They're a foursome from Oklahoma that mixes Del Shannon’s teenage cool with girl groups like the Shangri-Las. Singer Shannon Shaw attracts all the attention, a powerhouse with a lung capacity that could challenge Etta James.

Retro lover Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys fell for their sound recently and infused their album Onion with his contemporary vintage sound. He went on to record Shaw’s solo debut, In Nashville, an album that exudes the spirits of Dusty Springfield and Roy Orbison. Big shoes to fill, but that’s no feat for Shaw.
