Meg Stuart usually uses newly composed soundscapes for her choreographies, but Built to Last, a 2012 production that is now being reprised, uses two music pieces that were composed to last an eternity.
Meg Stuart brings Built to Last back to Brussels
Along with musical dramatist Alain Franco, Nutty Meg selected work by classical and modern geniuses like Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ludwig van Beethoven, Iannis Xenakis, Meredith Monk, and Arnold Schoenberg.
By turns comically and tragically, five performers work themselves to pieces on these masterpieces. Or do their masks, wigs, and blow-up dolls boldly imbue the universal compositions with a completely new context?
