The career of Lara Gasparotto (Liège, 1989) took off immediately after she graduated. The spontaneous style with which she documents her own intimate life and those of her friends, but also rural landscapes and interiors, makes Gasparotto one of the most fascinating contemporary photographers.

Her work may look documentary, but with the combination of colour and black and white pictures, she creates narratives that have neither beginning nor end. Or as she said when her latest book, Ask the Dusk, was published: “It merely shows eruptions of life in different shades of time.”
For Come Dawn to Us, the photographer has swapped the dark of dusk for the dawn glow, where the first light of the morning chases the shadows away.
