Many people voluntarily allow themselves to be shrunk, because it makes them rich enough to live in luxury. But one ordinary guy experiences that downsizing won’t save him, let alone the world.
Alexander Payne treats more major themes than in all his other films put together, which is much too ambitious. He does not reach any clear conclusions, and a dose of moralism seems inevitable.
