Dan Bejar, a veteran of the indie scene in Vancouver, released his most famous records as the vocalist of The New Pornographers, but his most unconventional were with Destroyer. Number twelve in this side project is entitled ken, and is named after a ballad by Suede (also known as “The Wild Ones”). It was released a month and a half ago.
Destroyer brings the gritty eighties to Botanique

Six years after Kaputt, Bejar’s first attempt to make a pop album with Destroyer, and two years after the more orchestral Poison Season, this record is dominated by introspective and gritty electro pop. With nods to the new wave of the grimy eighties and the desolate Thatcher age, the singer has reinvented his band yet again.
