Samah Hijawi is a painter, performer, astrologer, storyteller, researcher, academic and cook. In her latest project Kitchen. Table. she explores how food customs move through time and space and how the body is a source of culinary memories. "Around the world, mothers are very important for food culture because they preserve memories and pass them on to the next generations. A lot has changed because of war and dislocation, but also because of urbanisation and because so much is available in supermarkets and restaurants that people cook less themselves."
