Hayan came to Brussels from Iraq in 2015 to start a new life. After taking classes in Dutch and French, he started working as an engineer. However, something was always missing: expressing his emotions. "Other people who noticed that I was writing poetry were not quite convinced. They thought: how can someone who works with logic as an engineer get through to emotions?"
