Vicky Krieps from Phantom Thread and Tim Roth from Pulp Fiction play a couple who continue working on their film scripts on the Swedish island of Fårö where there should be inspiration galore. Fårö is the paradise where Ingmar Bergman transformed his fears and struggles into masterful films. But their relationship is in trouble.

'Bergman Island': trouble in paradise
After a fling, Chris (Krieps) invents a story about two former lovers (Mia Wasikowska and Anders Danielsen Lie) who run into each other again during a wedding on Fårö. That too is depicted. The Cannes Festival allowed Mia Hansen-Løve's film about film to compete for the Golden Palm. A contender it was not.
