On 9 November 1985, the Brabant Killers violently attacked the Delhaize in Aalst. Director Stijn Coninx has made a big-hearted and outraged adaptation of the story of David Van de Steen who lost his parents and sister in the attack.
The film’s moving beginning clearly shows how profound the national trauma was. But the film then loses momentum. The Gang disappears into thin air and the investigation slowly grounds to a halt. A carnival of wigs almost makes you forget what it is that you are watching. A pity.
