Is the world a village? Or is it a hairdresser’s in Matonge? The one run by Sabine from Cameroon to be precise. The camera never leaves her tiny salon, but it doesn’t need to in order to tackle a range of topical issues and both the world’s great problems and even more pressing personal problems. This emancipating and instructive documentary by Rosine Mbakam is essential to understanding Brussels. It is being screened during En ville !, a promising documentary film festival that was moved forward by three months.
