It’s the late 1960s among the Wayúu, a native tribe in La Guajira, a remote part of Colombia. To pay the high dowry that matriarch Úrsula is demanding for her daughter Zaida, Rapayet decides to sell marijuana to the American peace corps.

The drug trade that evolves out of that is lucrative, but also leads to brute violence and misery. Respecting its authenticity, Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego (Embrace of the Serpent) adapt this tragic story about the loss of innocence into genuine cinema.
